At the time he was in high school and was a senior, he realized that he would like to become an actor. He tried college for three months "Things did not work out for me and it didn't really work out for them, which led to a mutual parting of ways." He eventually moved to New York where he attended Circle in the Square Theatre School. The actors met for The Last Word, where they were lovers on the screen. Stuart Fink directed the movie.
